Every one is different and therefore responds to minoxidil differently. The most important factor in minoxidil is the percentage concentration. I usually recommend 5% to my patients versus the 1%. Minoxidil is effective in about 60% of patients that use it for maintaining and preventing future hair loss. Your specific course of treatment depends on your specific hair loss case. If you are trying to reverse hair loss or restore your hair, minoxidil may not be the best treatment to help you reach your goals. To get a detailed and comprehensive treatment plan for your hair loss you should meet with a qualified and experienced hair restoration surgeon who specializes in the medical management of hair loss.
Both can be effective, but take about 6 months to see results. Continued use is necessary to maintain results. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone that work well with Minoxidil. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Is it true that Minoxidil liquid is better than foam? Or do they both have the same effect? They have the same effect.
Both do work. Some people have problems using the liquid, others don't like the foam and I have had patients just give up on minoxidil because they just couldn't continue using one or the other. You can try both, and whichever you feel you can reliably use twice a day from now on will be the best one for you.
Thank you for the post and question. Yes, Minoxidil liquid works better than the foam version because most of the foam is attached/applied to the hair, versus being absorbed through the skin to the follicle. Hope this helps.
It is easier to get most of the minoxidil liquid on the scalp than the foam which is often blocked by the hair
