Finding telogen vellus hairs is quite easy: Place a white piece of paper on the table. Now, run your hands through your hair for 1 minute and let all the hairs fall down a white piece of paper placed on a table.  Now go search through all the hairs on that white piece of paper that are less than 3 cm. These are telogen vellus hairs.  I have included a photo of a telogen vellus hair in the link below

I suspect that by its name, it refers to the presence of many vellus hairs, possibly more than normal as seen in the posting below
