When should I use tretinoin gel after microneedling?

It is recommended to wait at least 5-7 days post treatment.  It depends on how long you've been using the retina.  How aggressive the treatment was.  If anything was used in conjunction with the micro needling.  Always check back with the office that you got the treatment with and their protocols.

It’s best to wait at least a week, but for more accurate timeframe it’s a good idea to follow up with your physician. 

To be safe I would wait to use treatment products for 1 week.  If you are eager to get back on your tretinion I would try it out on a small area on the side of your face to see how it feels prior to applying to the entire face.  If it burns or causes redness I would wait longer prior to application. 

I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care and skin care recommendations after microneedling. Keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement for acne scars. Acne scars need a combination of microneedling with prp, lasers, subcision and fillers. It may take a series of treatments and may need some treatments to maintain. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

You need to wait until your skin has fully recovered from the microneedling treatment. The protocol in our office is to have 48 hours of calming products and no makeup. However, please consult with the technician who performed your treatment as a more aggressive treatment may require more time off from active products.

I usually recommend restarting tretinoin or retinol after microneedling once any redness and flaking have resolved. This usually takes 3-5 days.

You can continue your tretinoin after the redness has subsided from your microneedling. When using PRP during your microneedling treatment, that is usually around day 3-4.
