Can SkinMedica TNS Essential serum and or HA5 cause increased facial telangiectasia?

Question

I have a history of facial Telangiectasia. Dr recommend the above serums to help with my acne scars and texture/redness/aging of my skin. The serums have worked well for overall skin health but I have noticed an increase in Telangiectasia. Can the ingredients in the products be contraindicated in people with Telangiectasia? Ie. The growth factors increase the occurrence of Telangiectasia or is it just coincidental. I am just scared I am causing more damage. Thank you for any help!

skin care cannot cause telangiectasis unless there is steroids in the solution.  I suggest proper lasers, peels, and microneedling to build your dermis and strengthen your skin.  For genetic vessels, consider vascular lasers. Best, Dr. Emer.

No, these products will not contribute to more broken blood vessels. Laser therapy can be very helpful in eradicating these vessels. The BBL photo facial for smaller vessels often combined with vein tracing for larger vessels is an effective treatment solution. Be careful with abrasive products and treatments like aggressive micordermabrasions to prevent new telangiectasias. Best of luck to you

I suggest you consult a board certified dermatologist for the V-Beam laser as it is the gold standard for treating redness.  It will take several sessions to reduce this redness.  I also recommend Vitamin C serum which I give to most of my rosacea patients as it helps with redness.  Best, Dr. Green
