I was diagnosed with PAH in 2018 9 mo post op. I had traditional Lipo which helped but within a year noticed more PAH. I decided to get a Tummy Tuck/Lipo in 2021 and thought it would fix it. I feel like now my stomach is even worse (Looks like I’m pregnant) it isn’t flat and is bulging out. My TT was done almost a year ago. Looking to get opinions, do I still have PAH? Any treatment recommendations to fix? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Answer: LIPO Thank you for your question. Although rare, PAH can happen and is easily remedied by performing lipo in the affected area. The company will actually pay for the corrective procedure. I actually did this exact procedure for someone that had PAH yesterday!

Answer: PAH Treatment PAH is typically fully cured with TRADITIIONAL LIPOSUCTION. Certain liposuction techniques such as power assisted liposuction or vaser might facilitate removal of PAH, they ARE NOT necessary, despite what some providers are claiming. I have treated numerous patients sucessfully with PAH over the course of the last 10 years. Unfortunately Kellie, In your case I fear that your distortion of your stomach may be a result of recurrent rectus diastasis and internal visceral fat. It is hard to tell without an in person examination.

Answer: PAH Fix PAH which stands for paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia is very tricky to fix. Traditional liposuction will not work because the fat is very fibrous and not easily extracted with just suction. Laser assisted liposuction is not very effective either. We have tried all different modalities to treat PAH and the only thing that we have found to work is ultrasonic energy to break up the fat prior to performing liposuction. The instrument we use for this is called Vaser. Unfortunately, it looks like, when you had your liposuction, they tried to remove the fat with traditional liposuction. You will need to repeat the liposuction with Vaser liposuction by a doctor who is experienced in treating PAH to remove the fat. Your PAH is treatable, you just need the right treatment.

Answer: Looking pregnant after a tummy tuck If you were happy with the way you looked in the first year following the tummy tuck, then the most likely reason why you look “pregnant” is because you have gained some weight and there is an excessive amount of visceral, or Gut fat. If that’s the case, you have to change your eating habits in order to lose some weight and that will give you the results you’re looking for. Another reason would be if the muscle tightening was not effective but I doubt that very much if the procedure was done by an expert plastic surgeon. I hope this helps and good luck from New York city plastic surgery.
