Chin Implant or Lip Reduction? (photo)

 We very rarely perform lip reductions because the lips will become smaller with the aging process anyway. A chin implant is performed for patients  who have a weak chin profile to give  them a stronger jawline. We use Silastic implants which come and a variety of different sizes and shapes pending upon the needs of the patient. Size of the chin implant is determined at the time of the physical examination consultation. Chin implants can be performed under local anesthesia. Based on the photos you have shown it is not possible to get a good assessment of your chin. With good pictures and some computer imaging the effects of chin augmentation could be seen. An upper lip reduction can be done but you should first see the imaging effects of chin augmentation before committing to that procedure. 

You need a special extended chin implant, with about 10mm in thickness in the midline. Your lips are fine. As you age, they will shrink anyway.

From your photos, it is difficult to access if you would benefit from a chin implant. However, your upper lip is indeed full. Typically, the lower lip is fuller than the upper lip. A lip reduction could be done in the office under local anestheisa, and gives excellent results. During your consultation, your lips and chin could be evaluated to see what would be best for you. I suggest you see a board certified plastic surgeon.

 The photos provided do reveal a very weak chin and full lips.  The chin can be augmented with a Chin Implant that would balance the entire lower face.  While full, the lips do have the proper aesthetic proportion and as such...require no intervention or modification...they appear more prominent because the chin is weak.

I strongly recommend a chin/jowl implant which will improve lower facial proportions. Either or both of your lips can be reduced but I feel that is a very personal decision because I see many men and women who are very attractive or handsome with large lips.

I would first recommend a chin augmentation ( a reversable procedure) and see what you think about the result and your lips. A lip reduction can always be done later and is not readily reversable.
