Dysport did not work. Why? (Photo)

Question

I am 30 years old and started receiving Botox at age 28. I started treating just my forehead and then about a year ago also started doing my masseters. Botox would last me around 2 months until movement started to return. In ocotber 2022, I switched to Dysport with a new provider when I moved. Dysport worked great. Was injected again late December or early January. Again, was wonderful. Lasted 4 months. Went in a month ago and no change with dysport. Followed up with more and no change. Why?

There are a few possible reasons for why Dysport may not have worked for you when it worked in the past.  First, the amount used can definitely affect the result, so it is possible that you may just need more to get an effect.  Second, the placement of the injections can also influence the results.  The other possible explanation for Dysport not working would be that you have developed antibodies to it and so, there would be no effect.  This last reason is unlikely to occur, but it is possible.

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photos. You likely need to repeat the injection. I am not sure of the reason for no improvement. I would simply try it again with your doctor or try another injector. Good luck!

More information is needed to determine why the Dysport didn't work.  Some possible causes would be that the Dysport was not fresh, that the area was undertreated, or injection technique, among others.  Since you had no issue with Botox in the past you may consider switching back.

As always there are many factors to consider. Injector, product placement, product mixed properly as well as creating antibodies to a product. Try Botox again and Try Xeo as well. Use the same injector each time so you can see which is best for you. These products are all botulinum A. If none are working, then you will need to consider another avenue.
