What is the best approach for removing extra adhesive?

I will do my best to address your concern with the information provided.In general, the bulk of the excess attachment material is removed with a polishing but and hand piece. It is followed with a scaler to avoid polishing too much. Any material that is left over or rough eventually dissipates after brushing. Your mouth usually adapts and the attachments are more comfortable, almost unnoticeable, over time. We use some polishing burs on our dental handpiece to remove the big hunks but we want to avoid doing that to excess.  When treatment is over and the attachments are taken off, it all comes off, but we want to avoid excessive wear.  Most of the glue will in fact wear off, but you might ask your regular dentist to maybe have at it.  They do lots of polishing without damaging teeth.
