Does insurance cover a surgery of a crooked nose? (photo)

Question

I have a crooked nose , u was wondering how much it would cost to get surgery & if my insurance would cover for this surgery since I have some trouble breathing .Also Any symptom of deviated septum?

If you have nasal airway obstruction that affects your breathing, insurance will cover the procedure.  However, Insurance will not cover the cost for any cosmetic adjustments.  You would be served best by a plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon who has an ENT -  Head and Neck Surgery foundation and experience with the functional considerations for surgery of the nose.

Insurance may cover a portion of the surgery if it is related to breathing.  You can have a more refined nose that is
 natural in appearance.  I perform these surgeries with closed technique

Most, not all, insurances will cover nasal surgery to improve your breathing. In some cases a crooked nose can contribute to nasal obstruction and repair might be covered under your policy. However, if the crookedness of the nose does not contribute to your nasal breathing problems or if you desire other cosmetic changes to your nose, that would require an out of pocket cosmetic payment as insurance does not cover any cosmetic adjustments to the nose. Nasal obstruction can be caused by a variety of issues such as a deviated nasal septum, turbinate hypertrophy, chronic sinusitis, allergies, valve collapse, and vestibular stenosis. Each one of these issues are treated differently with either  medications or surgery. When patients have failed medical therapy,  then consideration for surgical therapy can be entertained,once medical  necessity as been documented. Insurance does not pay for straightening  A crooked nose, since this is cosmetic.

Insurance may cover the functional portion of your surgery.  Schedule an exam with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for verification.  Insurance will not pay for the cosmetic portion.
