Told only a few attachments on the sides.They're on nearly all my teeth.Getting sores.Sharp. Difficult to eat. Options? (photos)

Question

Is there anything at all that can be done at this point? This looks awful. My teeth aren't that crooked. I was told there would be a few attachments on the sides. I'm also getting sores in my mouth from the aligned trays. The sharpness of these attachments makes it painful to eat. I was told they would be on for the duration of the treatment. I also whiten my teeth often. What can be done to keep the attachments white as I've been reading they stain easily? Are there clear ones available?

Hello Sarah,Attachments aid in tooth movement during Invisalign treatment.  It sounds like attachments are necessary in your case to achieve optimal results.  With time, you should get used to them.  Be sure that you are wearing your trays as much as possible.  The attachments aren't completely invisible, but they are tooth colored and should blend fairly well with your teeth.  Good luck and I hope this helps. When Invisalign attachments are put on it can take some time before the mouth gets use to it.  Keep the aligner on as much as possible and start with a soft diet where you don't have to chew too much.  In time it won't feel so uncomfortable.  When the attacments were put on, that is when a clear color or a tooth color attahchment is placed.  As long as you brush after each meal the attachmetns should not discolor.  You can get a cleaning & polishing every 3-4 months to help reduce the amount of stainng that builds-up.  Hope that helps!  Good Luck!
