Can filler lift my cheeks without making them bigger?

Question

Hi doctors, I’m F 44 and would like filler to lift my cheeks. Trouble is my face is already round and I can’t imagine making my smiling cheeks any plumper or my face wider. Can filler lift without really making my cheeks bigger? Threads are not an option where I live. Thank-you!

Hi Ginger, When people age and they develop a dark circle/tear trough between their lower eyelids and upper cheek, this makes the cheeks look not as high as it was when they were younger. If you look at photos of younger people/models including your own photos, it appears the cheeks go right up to the lower eyelash area without a division between the lower eyelid to the cheek. Using minimal filler to blend the two separated areas into one continous cheek can make the cheek "appear" lifted without actually adding very much filler. If this lower eyelid/cheek junction is not treated, the cheekbones can be directly injected with a lot of filler, but make cause a "Maleficent" pointy cheek bones which will likely move and be puffy looking instead of structural as seen in models with nice cheekbones. In fact, people with nice cheekbones really don't have a huge amount of fat on their cheekbones, and that area feels relatively thin with fat and the bone is palpable to the touch. Facial sculpting and contouring of the face can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Contour, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Truthfully, photos would help. If you can, please consider posting a few photographs. Lifting does not only come from filler.
