Thank you for your question.  Based on the description you have provided, I would say you are a good candidate for breast reduction surgery.  I recommend calling your insurance company for a list of board certified plastic surgeons in your network.  Asking for a referral from your regular doctor is also a great idea. Then I would set up a consultation with the BC PS you choose to have an exam, and sort out the specific details. Every insurance company and its requirements are different.  Best of luck! 

It depends upon your insurance.  If you have a plan that requires a gatekeeper for a referral, then start with the family doctor.  If not, it is reasonable to see a board certified plastic surgeon for an evaluation.  Our offices deal with the insurance companies all the time and are able to know whether you will qualify for preauthorization, the extent of conservative medical management required, and how to navigate through the process.

Most plastic surgeons accept insurance managed procedures and you very well may qualify if you need medical criteria.
