Breasts feel very hard when laying down.

Thanks for your question.  If your surgery was only two months ago, the breasts may continue to soften considerably.  It can take 6 months or longer for the final shape to be apparent.  I recommend my patients book an assessment at least 6 months after surgery to ensure that they are progressing normally.

It is normal for your breasts to feel a little firm for up to 6 months after augmentation. Massaging can help soften the feel. You are still pretty early in your postoperative course and I would recommend giving yourself some more time. comfortable having implants in your body and for them to settle. This
time allows for you to physically and psychologically adapt to your new body
image. Rest, relax, recover and heal. Express your concerns to your
surgeon and reassess at 6 months.

Hello,Thank you for your question. The drop & fluff process includes a softening of the tissues surrounding your implant and this process can take between 2-6 months. You can likely expect your breasts to soften somewhat over the next few months, however discuss your concerns with your plastic Surgeon and let them advise you.All the best

Thank you for sharing your question about your recent breast augmentation surgery.  While it can be disconcerting to feel firmness in the breasts after surgery, it is completely normal at this early phase of healing.  Continue to follow up directly and in person with your operative surgeon and should the firmness continue be sure to ask their opinions on capsular contracture.

learn of your concerns. It is important to remember that a board certified
plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to an accurate
assessment of your situation, and concerns.

Having said that, it is way too early to make any decisions about how your
breast will look. It takes weeks to months to see what is happening. Also the
PS technique will also influence how quickly they settle, as well as the size
of implants, your natural tissue quality and characteristics. As they settle,
your breast mounds will dramatically change.

I typically and as a routine, ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months
before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation or secondary
breast surgery. This waiting time allows patients to physically and
psychologically adjust to their new body image.

It is important to have an in-person medical assessment regarding this issue as it is difficult to determine virtually. Continue to update your doctor in the matter and follow their post-op protocol.
It is important to get cleared by your doctor before engaging in specific physical activity before the 3 month healing period has ended as the healing stage is crucial for healthy results.
It generally takes around 6 months to a year to see your final results. Your tissues will take time to relax and allow your implants to "Drop and Fluff" settling into place. Should a revision cross your mind, it is best to wait at least 6 months to a year before doing so.
Our tips for recovery following breast augmentation are to wear a supportive sports bra for 3 months post-operative and refrain from lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for 3 weeks as we don't want any strain at your incision sites. Make sure to keep the area of your stitches clean by cleansing with hydrogen peroxide daily. Showering is encouraged! But, no sitting in water for 2 weeks following surgery (no baths, hot tubs, pools etc.).

At just two months post op, it is still relatively early after your breast augmentation.  It would probably still pay to continue with breast massage.  An anti-inflammatory agent such as Singulair may also be helpful.  If the breast capsules are still a problem at 6 to 12 months post op, then a surgical capsulotomy may be warranted,  Check back with your surgeon for their recommendations.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
