I'm really unhappy with the appearance of my breasts when my nipples are not erect. When my nipples are hard I actually like how they look, but my nipples are not very sensitive so they don't stay hard for long at all. I'm ok with my breast size but the shape bothers me. I think they're tubular and asymmetrical and would love for them to look more perky. I'd appreciate any opinions on areola reduction, implants, or nipple correction surgery. Thank you.
Answer: Breasts developing at different rates Thanks for posting your question. I am happy to try and help you. It is important to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, and concerns. Having said that, I do NOT think you have tuberous breasts from the pictures. I see no constriction nor breast distorting your areolas. Tuberous breasts have a great deal tightness in the lower half of the breast. So much so that the breasts will not develop in the lower half. When the breast does start to develop, it will actually grow and extend into the nipple area and make the areolas dilate and protrude. You do not have this. You may some very mild constriction (doubtful), but more likely you have small, underdeveloped, different shaped breasts. Best wishes, Dr. Michael J. Brown Northern Virginia Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Breast correction Hello, based on the photos your breasts do not appear to have many of the typical features of tuberous breasts. However, if you are dissatisfied with the nipple position and breast shape, a plastic surgeon could provide options to address these concerns. The best procedure would depend on your goals, i.e. whether you want to have larger breasts, remain the same size, tolerance of scars on the breasts, etc.

Answer: Breast augmentation Dear Annie,Thanks for your questions. While there is some constriction of the lower pole of the left breast, which is a feature of tuberous breasts, your breasts are not a classic example of tuberous breasts.I believe your left breast would do well with a straightforward augmentation. A breast implant placed over the muscle may be the best choice to improve the shape. On the right side, you do need a lift. A vertical pattern lift should be enough. The areolar diameter could be reduced during the lift as well. Aloha,Shim Ching, MD

Answer: Best options for tubular (I think) breasts with large areola and flat, low nipples? Judging from the photos I would not say that you have tuberous breasts. You do have loss of fullness in the upper breast along with a significant asymmetry.I would recommend an augmentation with a lift. The augmentation would provide volume to give more fullness in the upper breast. This will also improve projection. The lift will raise the position of the nipple and areola which is most important on the lower right side. This will also allow reduction of the areolar diameter. Have 2-3 consultations with board certified plastic surgeons in your area so you get a couple of different opinions as to what will be best for you following an in person examination.Best of luck.

Answer: Best options for tubular (I think) breasts with large areola and flat, low nipples? You appear to have some asymmetry of your breasts, with one slightly larger and "droopier" than the other. Not sure you need a full lift just based on your photos but you could definitely benefit from a peri-areolar lift to help reduce the diameter of the areola and even out the nipples. Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon who takes the time to properly examine and evaluate you and recommends the best procedures for you! Good luck!
