Can I have Microneedling treatments? I'm 65 and have been on Plavix for the past 9 years.

Hello I am 65 and have been on .75 mg Plavix for the past 9 years after I had a Stent put in. I had a hernia operation 2 years ago and had to stop using the Plavix for a week before the surgery. Is it possible to get Microneedling treatments done? Should I stop using the Plavix a few days before the procedure?

It's best to discuss elective discontinuation of bloodthinners such as Plavix with your Cardiologist.  That being said, microneedling is a fairly superficial treatment and is unlikely to cause significant bleeding.  The patient on Plavix may have a bit more bruising with microneedling than the patient on no bloodthinners, but the final treatment outcome should be pretty equivalent.  Good luck!

 A little more bleeding and perhaps bruising during microneedling treatment is acceptable for our patients on aspirin, Plavix and other blood thinners.  However, discontinuance makes the process easier.  Consult your cardiologist for safety!
