Is spironolactone safe long term? I am not sure the benefits outweigh the side effects and want to know if I should stay on it.

I have been on 50mg for a few years. I went off of it last month because I started Lolo estrin birth control for my upcoming wedding. I didn't know if it was safe to take together, and I don't want to be on unnecessary medications. I don't have bad skin, I was originally put on it I think to level out hormones- and also I had kidney stones. My gyno had prescribed it and I just didn't know if I should continue. I have experienced more bloating without it and probably also from the birth control.
