Thank you for your question. Mole cells go down into the fat layer. Shaving can be a great option for removing an unwanted or unsightly mole, however because of the depth of the cells, they may grow back. Provided the tissue was sent to a pathologist to review and has been deemed benign you can consider having it reduced with a laser such as Fraxel or Smoothbeam. Another option would be to have the residual mole removed with a punch excision and any scar that occurs can be lasered.
Thank you for your question. There are multiple different techniques to remove a lesion. The spot can be shaved off, which would leave you with a circular, slightly indented scar similar to a chicken pox scar, and the possibility of the lesion returning. The other form of removal would be an excision, which would leave you with a linear scar. Other cosmetic options include laser treatment. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to have your lesion evaluated and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs. Take care and good luck.
