IPL treatment while taking Prednisone?

Is it okay to have an IPL facial treatment immediately after completing a 4 week course of Prednisone for inflammation, or should a person wait awhile?

When treating with IPL or LASER it is important to wait 2 weeks following the completion of a steroid or antibiotic. Certain antibiotics (specifically in the tetracycline family) cause photosensitivity. Steroids can impair the skin's ability to heal.

Hi and thank you for your question. The problem with prednisone is that it can interfere with the natural healing process. Duration and dose of prednisone may influence that effect. While there is no magic time to wait after prednisone, generally 2 weeks should allow your body to get back to it's normal state. Since this is an elective treatment, I would recommend waiting.

Hi there, I think it’s important to know what you are taking prednisone for. If it’s for a respiratory infection vs a skin condition. Usually we want 2 weeks after any medication to resume any laser or any cosmetic treatment. Hope this helps!
