I am 4 months post op from my chin implant, but the skin on my chin is still very flaky. Is this bad?

The skin on my chin is very dry and looks as if I could peel it. Is this a result of the chin implant being too big? Will the flaky skin disappear over time?

There can be a fair amount of swelling after a chin implant, which will gradually resolve over several weeks to months. I recommend following up with your surgeon. If your implant is asymmetrical, it can be re-positioned with a surgical procedure. I hope this helps.

Based on your symptoms I would say that jaw surgery with sliding genioplasty is a better choice. However, chin implant is a simple surgery with minimal recovery time. You can always change your mind and have jaw surgery if implant doesn't work to your liking. It is quite possible that you may...

In most cases, your chin will return to its presurgical appearance and muscle function returns to normal. I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon but it probably will take more time.
