Answer: Keloids on the shoulders Our office specializes in keloid therapy. I would use a Hidef Scar Protocol to address your keloids so that they flatten out and smooth out. This may include lasers, injections, and topical therapy. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles

Answer: Steroid Injections for Keloids Hi Yvonne. As you have experienced, keloids can recur after surgical removal, especially in locations where it is impossible to exert pressure during the healing process. We would recommend higher dose steroid injections. This will work, but it will take multiple visits and likely higher doses than you have had previously. Technique also matters.Take a look at the before and after pictures at the link below, which was a similar keloid that we flattened.

Answer: Effective Keloid Treatment Hello, keloids tend to grow progressively and, unlike other scars, do not subside over time. Scar excision is the best option to remove the keloids but it does not guarantee that the keloids won't grow back. Some doctors, including myself, also use a secondary treatment, such as superficial radiation therapy (SRT-100), post-surgery to greatly reduce the chance for re-growth. A vast majority of my patients have had no re-growth using this treatment combination. We have found that other treatments such as cortisone injections or laser treatments really do not yield permanent results. Best of luck.
