Can you develop an allergy to Botox even if you never had one before?

My usual skin professional retired. I tried a new person to do Botox (a qualified RN). It hurt way more than usual & sounded funny at one point of injecting. Was very warm and sore for a few hours afterwards. I took some advil to try and get the swelling to go down, did not help. The lady who did the injections told me to take Reactin. Not sure why this would happen as I have had botox before and never had this reaction. Can I have developed an intolerance to Botox or was it something else?
