I had a septoplasty done 6 days ago and got the stitches out today. I’ve had a horrible odor in my nose for the past 3 days and it seems to be getting worse. I thought when he took the stitches and packers out it would smell better but it’s way worse now. Is this bad? When will the smell go away?

Hi,
You do not need to worry as 8 weeks period is very early period for healing process, you need to consult your doctor for a cream to soften the air you breath.
Kind Regards,
Snoring can be caused by multiple factors. A deviated septum is just one. I would allow 6-12 weeks to elapse, following surgery, to allow for swelling to subside. If the snoring persists, you should discuss with your surgeon other possible causes for your persistent snoring.Good luck!
Dear Chrisbee, Every surgeon has a different protocol for post operative care of their septoplasty patients. Speak with your surgeon and discuss your concerns with your breathing difficulties so that he/she may provide options to help you. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
