Permanent crowns, oozed lumps of dried cement

Question

Got my permanent 4 front crowns yesterday. They look and feel fine unlike the temporaries with the thick globs of cement overlapping the roof of my mouth. 10pm made night guard, afterward I noticed lumps of cement overlapping the roof of my mouth! Can the extra cement be removed without removing the crowns?

The cement is easily removed, so contact your dentist without delay, but DO NOT try to remove it yourself as you can cause yourself trauma, and the effect can be very unpredictable, possibly even damaging to your new crowns once the cement has gone hard. Good luck and kind regardsThomas Dey, BDS, MSc

Don't worry! The cement can be removed without any issues to your crowns. Sometimes the cement is clear and cannot be seen easily to remove it. Go back to your dentist and have it fully removed.

You can relax, the dentist can remove the excess cement uneventfully.  In SOME cases you may need to get numb, but crown removal won't be needed
