I am having a new crown cemented in next week and I would like to go to another dentist first for a second opinion on the margins, contours and contacts. Any problem with that request? Thanks.

Answer: Crown As long as you've paid your original dentist the full fee for the crown, it's yours and you can do what you want with it. You could request they use temporary cement so you can seek your second opinion. Then return to your original dentist to permanently cement if you are happy with it. Expect to pay out of pocket for a second opinion as insurance will not cover that doctor's time. Also expect to pay for a recementation appointment with your original doctor to have the crown permanently cemented.
