I was fitted for 2 crowns and the dentist left a hole in my gums. Not sure if this is normal? Now I am getting shooting pains from that area up through my temple that are quick jolts. Should I follow up or go through the motions?

Hi:
Depending on the amount of tooth structure remaining, individual crowns are always better. However, if you do not have enough tooth structure it might be better for the crowns to be connected.

It sounds like you have a failed root canal that is allowing recurrent infection. Your choices are:
Retreat the root canal conventionally.
If that fails, then an apico-ectomy. This means doing a surgery procedure that completes the root canal from the root tip.
