I followed a whitening treatment with opalescence 16% for 12 days. During this period I stopped drinking coffee, wine, cola and tea. on the other hand, I drank hot chocolate a couple of times, beer and ate chocolate. Is it possible that this may have affected my final results? I still have yellow spots on my teeth and I don't smoke. I used 4 seringes. Is the white diet really a must during a 2 weeks whitening treatment? Thank you.

Hi Kate
Based on the situation you have describe I would strongly suggest a consultation with an endodontist the reason why is because of the trauma you suffer many years ago, the nerves inside your teeth might have suffer damage that convert the nerve in to necrotic tissue one...
If you have external discoloration (i.e. Staining from such things as tea and coffee), then professional tooth cleaning will help you. Bleach will not work well with external discoloration.
If you have internal yellowing, then you need to whiten your teeth using a whitening gel that is held onto...
You can attempt to whiten your dentin first. A little may improve but not enough will make you satisfied for long term. Lumineers veneers without prepping your tooth away more will be best option to achieve that brightness and to protect your teeth.
