It is possible that you have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after your skin was irritated by the depilatory creams. Hyperpigmented areas usually improve on their own if kept out of the sun and away from irritation over the course of a year. For stubborn spots,  energy-based treatments such as laser and intense-pulsed light may treat dark spots. A more gentle option is to use topical "bleaching" creams such as hydroquinone, however care must be given to apply the cream only to areas that are darker so avoid lightening normal skin.
