I scuba dive and swim 1-3 times a week and typically wear a standard mask and sometimes wear a full face mask. I am usually cleared to wear the mask 1-2 days after Botox or lip filler, but the standard face mask will put pressure on the area injected. I have seen everything from 2 days to 2 weeks wait time recommended online. How long should I wait after the procedure to dive and how long to swim in the pool?

While light activity such as swimming can typically be resumed after 24–48 hours, scuba diving—especially with a tight-fitting mask that places pressure on the midface—requires more caution. I recommend waiting at least 7 to 10 days before wearing a standard or full-face diving mask. This helps ensure the filler has integrated well and reduces the risk of shifting or uneven results.

If you experience any tenderness or swelling beyond this period, it’s best to delay until those symptoms fully resolve. Each individual’s healing timeline can vary, so a conservative approach is usually safest.

Typically you will want to wait two weeks after your facial filler treatment before wearing a fitted face mask for scuba diving.  This will allow time for the product to settle and swelling to completely resolve.  You can swim in a pool the day after fillers.
