Is it safe to use an infrared sauna blanket with implants? My doctor has retired and I’m not sure who to ask. The manufacturer has breast implants listed in their safety instructions to not use. Thank you!

Answer: Sauna blankets I would suggest not using any sauna blanket in your first 6 weeks of healing. After that, you can probably use it on low settings for short times over the breasts. If you have saline implants, the saline will probably remain closer to your body temperature. If you have gel implants, you may notice more heat. It is still best to not use over your breasts. Since the manufacturer stated not to use, should you have a problem after using this blanket, the manufacturer will not be liable.

Answer: Sauna blankets It's essential to exercise caution when using infrared sauna blankets or any similar devices if you have implants, especially if the manufacturer explicitly advises against it in their safety instructions. The concern may stem from the potential for increased heat around the implant area, which could theoretically affect the integrity or performance of the implants. Given the specific concern regarding breast implants and the lack of guidance from your previous doctor, it would be wise to seek advice from a medical professional who can assess your individual situation. You might consider consulting with a new doctor or reaching out to a specialist such as a dermatologist or a surgeon who has experience with implants. They can provide personalized guidance based on your medical history and the type of implants you have. It's crucial to prioritize your safety and health when considering any treatments or devices, especially when there's uncertainty about potential risks.
