What happens after accutane?

Question

I started at 20 mg for five months and now I'm down to 10mg on my last month. My dermatologist doesn't explain much but I haven't had any signs of new acne since the middle of the 4th month which is why I'm guessing she lowered the dose.

Thanks for your question and I
also do not know why the dose was lowered, as the optimal treatment course is
still 1 mg/kg/day for 20 weeks.  Even if
you are clear in that last month, there is no medical rational that I am aware
of that would cause one to lower your dose until you are finished with the 20 weeks.  I hope that helps.

I'm not sure why your Accutane dose has been lowered either. Unless something was odd in your bloodwork? Most patients need between 8000-16000mg total in a cumulative dosage. Which if you've only been on 20mg and now 10mg, you're not going to get to within six months. You need to talk to your dermatologist and ask questions... you want this treatment to be successful.
