I had rhinoplasty 18 years ago all went well. Recently my nose has been blocked quite a lot and I’ve felt dizzy. Could it be possible that my nose is collapsing ? It certainly doesn’t look like it has, but I’m concerned is this possible? I have never had any problems only my sense of smell has increased and I suffer with my sinuses more.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Surgery Thank you for your question and Photo i would recommend operation using the latest Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty device Piezo®: In traditional Rhinoplasty, surgical instruments known as rasps and osteotomies (hammer and chisel) are used to reshape the nasal bones by removing the hump and/or narrowing the nasal bone width. These tools are relatively imprecise and their use can lead to contour irregularities, etc. if not used in the proper manner. Recently, a technology that uses sound waves has been developed to contour nasal bones in a precise and far less traumatic way when compared to traditional techniques. Ultrasonic, or Piezo, Rhinoplasty is now the most advanced technology available for minimally traumatic nasal bone reshaping and hump removal during Rhinoplasty. There will be hardly any bruising and swelling which will make the recovery period a lot easier for the patient.

Answer: Late changes after rhinoplasty From your description, it is more likely to be a problem due to emerging allergies than collapse of the nose. The sinuses can also be affected along the same process. A consultation with an ENT surgeon is the first step in assessment of your current problems and to discuss treatment options

Answer: Can my nose collapse 18 years post-op rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty results evolve over time. While it is possible to develop collapse of nasal cartilages in the middle or loss of tip projection, I cannot give you any specific advice without seeing your pictures or an in-person examination. My best advice is that you discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals with a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in performing rhinoplasty. I would ask to see before and after pictures of their real patients. It's important that you trust your surgeon's skills and ability to achieve the results you are looking for. In particular, pay attention to your surgeon's experience with rhinoplasty. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty Patient who had a large hump resected without adequate re-enforcement and support by spreader grafts can get nasal collapse in form of an "Inverted V deformity" many years down the line but this is visible. Also, dizziness is not caused by nasal collapse. I would advice you to see your own surgeon if possible or to consult with a nasal surgeon (Rhinologist) with expertise in performing rhinoplasty. You should expect a full detailed examination of your nose is required to assess your nasal skin, cartilage, bony structures, and your nasal airway/ sinuses. Best wishes,
