Greetings! I recently (3.5 weeks ago) underwent a breast augmentation. I did not need a lift per my 2 consultations. I chose 350 size and my surgeon chose mod+ profile during the surgery and added 25ccs to my right breast to balance out my asymmetry. I feel they are far too close and are not the look I wanted. The skin is intact between the two but you can only see it when I lift my arms. At my 2 week follow up, my surgeon was very pleased and said it looks great. Please advise!!!
Answer: My breasts are too close together... can this be fixed? 1 month post-op. Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Though your breasts will likely remain "close" once fully healed current tissue swelling is flattening your implants and holding them high on your chest. Though they will not get bigger, the volume within the implant will redistribute towards the lower portion of your breast achieving a more natural appearance. If after 6 months your breast appearance is not to your satisfaction reducing either the overall cc size or increasing the projection would be of benefit. Hope this helps.

Answer: Breasts are too close together I would advise waiting at least 6 months for the breasts to completely settle. If at this point you are still unhappy with the positioning of the breasts. then you can talk to your surgeon about revision surgery.

Answer: Breast augmentation At 3.5 weeks postoperatively, you are still early in your healing process. It is possible that you are still dealing with some swelling which can influence the appearance of your breasts. I would recommend waiting another 5 months or so before making a final judgment of your results. If at this point you still feel they are too close, a revision maybe be necessary to move the breasts farther apart. I recommend discussing these concerns with your plastic surgeon as he or she is most equipped to answer questions regarding your treatment. Best of luck!

Answer: Yes. Your breasts are naturally close together. This cannot be altered surgically. What can probably address your concerns is reducing the implant size, either with an implant with a narrower base width, or smaller volume, or both. Overall you have a very nice result and you should proceed with caution with consideration of revision surgery. If you remain displeased, downsizing is a fairly straightforward undertaking. I recommend you discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck to you.

Answer: My breasts are too close together... can this be fixed? I am sorry to hear about your concerns after breast surgery. In my practice, having used a variety of “techniques” for correction of medial breast implant displacement, tenting or symmastia, I find that the most reliable technique involves a 2 layer capsulorrhaphy (internal suture repair of the breast implant pockets along the cleavage area). Often, the use of acellular dermal matrix is helpful also. I have also been pleased with the (at least partial) correction of skin tenting that can be achieved with the use of the acellular dermal matrix. Often, it is necessary to “open” (reverse capsulotomy) the breast implant pocket laterally (outer breast fold) to allow for positioning of the implant centrally behind the breast mound. This maneuver may also decrease the amount of implant pressure against the medial suture line. Sometimes, the use of smaller and/or narrower breast implants be helpful. I also find that careful attention to postoperative activity restrictions is key to success with this type of surgery and other types of implant malposition revisionary breast surgery. For example, for most of my medial malposition or symmastia patients, I ask that they avoid pec major related exercises ( especially exercises that involve abduction of their arms) for at least three months after the procedure is performed. Best wishes.
