Is it possible for filler to be causing pain over a year and a half post-injection? Got a non surgical rhinoplasty in May 2021 lw Restylane and December 2021 with Juvederm (Voluma?) Could it be causing some sort of pain or pain/compression of the nose? I know it hasn’t fully dissolved yet. It was injected into the bridge and the pain is on the side of the bridge down. Skin seems normal. I’m consulting an ENT but my PCP isn’t familiar w/ complications of filler.

Answer: Injectable fillers may not be related to nasal pain more than a year after your treatment. Generally, gel fillers may cause pain if they are causing vascular occlusion. And Vascular occlusion is typically noted shortly after the procedure. Consider getting an opinion from the doctor who injected you. If your doctor feels like there is an issue with the ha gel that was injected, it may be dissolved. I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Boston Facial Surgeon answers It seems very unlikely. It is possible that there could be an infection but you would likely have seen that very quickly. Also compression seems unlikely too. A photo could help but mostly an in person visit is key.
