What are the IPL settings for hair removal vs redness improvement?

I see a lot of providers offering hair removal with IPL. If I ask them to do a photofacial for my rosacea would they know what to do or the settings/configuration are completely different for the face hair removal vs. rosacea treatments?

The settings for IPL are determined by the physician according to the problem that needs correction and your skin color. IPL uses different length waves of light and different speeds at which the light is fired. Different settings will deliver different results.

You need to evaluate the quality of the office, the staff and their equipment. Any well trained staff should clearly understand the correct settings - not just for hair removal vs sun damage vs hair removal, but also based on your skin type and observing how your skin is responding in each setting. Research your office carefully and look for referrals. IPL hair removal uses a different wavelength of light versus IPL for photofacial.  Depending on the IPL system they use, the hand pieces or machine will be specific for either photofacial or hair removal.  Just make sure the provider offers both and doesn’t use the same IPL for hair as they do for photofacial.
