My nose looks too wide and disproportionate. Is it because I have too much cartilage, and if so, can it be removed? (Photo)

Question

Based on my research, the surgeon will alter the bone and cartilage in the nose according to what better fits the face and the needs of the patient. I understand that the thickness of the skin cannot be altered. When I smile with my teeth or laugh, my nose appears very large. I usually hold my nose in to make it look smaller. I want my nose to be less wide, my nostrils not to protrude, and overall smaller w/o me holding it in. Will cartilage be removed?

Your alar base (the width of your nose at the bottom) is well within the norms for an aesthetically pleasing nose. In addition, flaring of the nostrils with animation such as smiling is completely normal. You can always find someone willing to operate on you, but you may end up with a result that you like less than your current nose. You are an attractive lady already, so consider it carefully before proceeding.

Your photos don't convey your concerns well enough. Side views, frontal views and smiling views would be more helpful. The rims of your nostrils appear slightly retracted. Perhaps you would benefit from some alar modification. When you see a Rhinoplasty surgeon he will be able to better assess your anatomy and concerns to formulate an appropriate surgical plan.
