I bit into a fork and put a tiny chip in my front top tooth. Of course, my dentist was away. I called a dentist I worked for as a teenager and he said he could bond it without drilling away any tooth. It looks beautiful, however, I have not eaten any real food or been able to relax because I feel that he did, in fact, drill away some of the enamel from the bottom of my tooth. It feels very thin. It is possible to just smoothen the edges and not applying any bonding/composite to that area. If you do bond, it will have a high tendency of breaking since it will be so thin.
Bonding can be done for minor chips but it is at a high risk of chipping just like your own tooth. You would have to be careful not to bite into anything. Also, you may have a bite issue that is causing the enamel on your tooth to be compromised and eventual chipping ( like when biting into a...
