Is my mole removal site healing properly? Or should I be concerned about infection? (Photo)

Question

I had a mole shaved off my stomach 5 days ago. The site is more tender than it was at first. I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is a normal healing process or a potentially worrisome infection. I've been applying antibiotic ointment and keeping it covered. I put hydrogen peroxide on it this evening, and I'm not sure if that would also contribute to slightly increased pain now.

Thanks for sharing your question. The mole removal site appears to be healing normally. I imagine the increased pain could be secondary to hydrogen peroxide. This should be avoided, as it could slow the healing process. Continue applying the antibiotic ointment and keeping it covered as suggested by your treating physician. 
Signs of infection include spreading redness, swelling, feeling unwell or fevers. If any of these occur please see your doctor.

From the photo, it appears that there is now an open wound which appears inflammed as evidenced by the redness. The wound will heal from the inside, out. Continue the antibiotic ointment and please consult with your surgeon, or seek out a board-eligible/board-certified plastic surgeon for a proper evaluation.
