What can I do in case of paradoxical hair growth after laser hair removal?

Two months ago, I have diode laser done on the sides of my face and my upper lip. The first two sessions worked fine, although I thought results would be more dramatic. Right after the third session, I got more hair; black, thick beard-like hear on my sides, especially my right side (it also gave me really bad acne breakout).

Thank you for your question. It is uncommon for paradoxical hair growth to occur after treatment. It is unsure why this occurs, but it is best to continue with your treatments as it the only way to treat unwanted hair. Thanks for your question – paradoxical hair growth is not a common occurrence after laser hair removal but has been reported over the years.  No one knows for sure why it happens but when it does, the best treatment is to continue with the laser treatments as it is the only way to get rid of the unwanted hair.  I would make sure that you are seeing a board certified dermatologist in this case and make sure they are experts in laser hair removal – to minimize this risk occurring again.
