Question

Part of my temporary crown broke off. I called my dental office and was told this was likely due to an adjustment done yesterday,however since the doctor isn't in until Monday nothing can be done. I was advised to just keep it clean. Is this solid advice?

Dear nosc78:
It is unfortunate that the provisional broke, but it is not uncommon.  As long as you do not have pain, it is OK.    Make sure that you brush the area very well, right over the remaining temp and do not be afraid to dislodge it.  It is far more important to keep the area clean and plaque free.
If the crown is ready next week, go in and the dentist might be able to deliver the final product to you.  If not, the dentist might want to fabricate a new provisional restoration for you.

From the picture you should be fine for a few days as long as it is not too sensitive or painful.  If the crown is not scheduled to be cemented for a while you may want to have the temporary replaced.
