Pain in breasts after reduction. Is it nerve regeneration?

I was told by my PS that the nerves are coming back to life in my breasts and that it is normal to experience pain. I do not know what I can do to alievate this pain. It is hurting so bad that sometimes at night I am in tears. They prescribed me Tramadol w tylenol and that isn't work. I've emailed the office a few times and I have not received any response. I'm very annoyed, I do not feel like they are supporting me. I don't see him for at least another 2 months. Do you know what will take this pain away

All patients experience pain differently, but the "typical" pain pattern I see after a reduction is acute post-operative/incisional pain for anywhere from 1-2 weeks, and then aching/throbbing or "shock-like" pain starting anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks after surgery. The initial pain is well treated with oral pain medications, and the "shock-like" pain that comes on later is often attributed to cutaneous nerve regeneration, and is only somewhat helped with oral pain medications. Depending on how far out from surgery you are, I would try to call your surgeon's office to speak with him/her or a nurse directly or be seen in clinic sooner than 2 months from now. It sounds like your pain is out of proportion to what you should be feeling after a reduction, and there are definitely medications that can make you more comfortable.

Thank you very much for your question.I'm sorry that is happening to you.  While I don't know how far you out from your surgery, pain to the level of crying at night is not the usual course.  I would be worried that something else may be going on besides nerve pain".  It's highly unusual for a practice to not respond to a patient, as they have a duty to treat you.  Instead of emailing, I would try calling.  Be persistent.  If they still aren't responding, you may want to contact another doctor to assist you.  Best of luck.
