I'm 19 weeks post op today. Everything about this rhinoplasty is a disappointment - but I'm not getting into it all now. I was wondering, will my septum stay like this? It's huge! It's literally about a centimetre across. It's squishy too, not hard like it's long term swelling.

Answer: Swelling Can Last as Long as a Year After a Rhinoplasty It's likely that at least some of this is due to swelling and will slowly resolve over another 5 months or so. Have you talked to your surgeon about it? If not, you should. He or she should be able to provide a better answer.Swelling Can last for up to a year after a rhinoplasty and depending on how much work was done in the area of the bottom of the septum could possibly last even a little bit longer. Be patient. Talk to your surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Swelling I believe you are referring to your columella, which is the middle of the base of the nose. It is made of soft tissue surrounded on each side by the lower lateral cartilages. I am sure it is still swollwen as your description of the "squishy" sensation on touching it. Soft tissue swelling can be soft or firm. Keep an eye on things for a year, and continue to see your surgeon regularly as you heal.
