Since you experienced much more bruising under this eye after the injection, your body may have formed some extra collagen in the area. It is impossible to know if it is filler or scar tissue or a combination. I would suggest a combination of a small amount of hyaluronidase and a dilute steroid. Small and dilute are the keys. If either are too much, a depresion could result.

I am sorry to learn that you are having problems with your filler injections. Even though they were performed a year ago, Restylane can persist for a longer time under the eyes. I feel that treatment with hyaluronidase would be your best option at this point. You may need to essentially start over. I have seen patients in whom hyaluronidase injections have produced improvement in their appearance to the point where additional fillers are not required. However if you elect to undergo treatment with hyaluronidase, you may wish to plan on being reinjected by someone who is highly experienced in treating this region. Best of luck.

Under eye can swell even years after filler injections and I am convienced this is due to lymphatic swelling.  This improves with filler reversal and radiofrequency treatments.  Please see an expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question.  In our experience we have seen lumps from filler years after the initial injection even with HA fillers that should no longer be present.  A little hyaluronidase may improve this.  Other considerations would be gentle RF treatments like Venus or possibly even Inifni to the area.   Regards, Dr. Matt Elias

Hyaluronic acid fillers (#Restylane, #Juvederm, #Voluma) can last several years when injected in the tear trough area.  When you have significant bruising or edema after filler injection in this area, minute amounts of the #filler may travel superficial to the orbicularis oculi muscle, the muscle around the eye.  As a result, you can have superficial filler that will present as a "lump" that is more prominent when smiling.Visit with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon who injected the Restylane for further evaluation.  He or she may consider injecting hyaluronidase (#Wydase, #Vitrase, or #Hylanex) to dissolve any superficial filler.  If the Restylane is causing the lump, you will notice improvement within 20 minutes following the #hyaluronidase injection.Best of luck,Suneel Chilukuri, M.D.

Unusual for Restylane HA filler to last a year. Are you sure it was Restylane? If YS than Call the Restylane company to fill out a complication report. Than I might try a few drops of Hyaluronidase disolver injections into the lump area. Fee $500.
