Subcision, a simple and relatively inexpensive technique with over twenty-five years of use to back it up, can be employed to elevate and smooth the chicken pox scar. It may be supplemented with the collagen and elastic fiber-promoting filler and the shoulders of the scar can be made to grade down more gradually with light electrodessication. Usually two to four treatment sessions re required to achieve optimal improvement in appearance in the range of about 60-80%. These scars are not easy to treat. Often several treatments and several modalities should be tried. I'd consider subcision with filler, but also TCA CROSS, and even microneedling (with or without PRP, RF etc). A punch excision is also a reasonable option, trading a thin white line level scar for this deeper circular indent.
