Tip Rhinoplasty - closed or open surgery? (photos)

Question

I was wondering if most all rhinoplasty surgeons do tip only rhinoplasty? I don’t have a problem with my upper nose and bone part but I have a droopy tip or tension tip that I would like lifted and corrected. I was hoping to have only the tip done so healing would go more smooth and hopefully the cost would be lower. Would the tip only be a closed surgery? Also is the before and after picture I did realistic of what tip rhinoplasty could produce? I only changed the tip when editing it. Thanks!

Tip rhinoplasty is when surgery is only performed to the tip of the nose. Some patients are very satisfied with the rest of their nose and only wish to change the tip. Tip rhinoplasty can be done either closed or open. In your case I believe that it can be done closed however you are only showing the side view and a good exam is need to be sure. You will need to have tip grafting. The graft material will most likely come from your septum. The cost would certainly be less than a full rhinoplasty. These changes might also be able to be achieved with non-surgical fillers. Good luck.

Tip plasty verse full rhinoplasty: A tip plasty can be performed in lieu of a full rhinoplasty. Most plastic surgeons offer this option, but there are very few people who are candidates for a tip plasty without addressing other aspects of the nose. In the pre-edited photos you show the area above the tip called the supratip appears to project further than the tip itself. In the “after“ photo you show the tip projects more than the supratip. If you did not touch the bridge and supratip, the only way you could achieve this was by lengthening The projection of the tip. While this can easily be done on the computer it cannot be easily done on the operating table. In a situation such as this the typical procedure would be to reduce the projection of the dorsum and supratip so that the projection of the tip exceeds the projection of the supratip . this involves a full rhinoplasty in most surgeons hands

Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to do only a tip-plasty. The nose will be completely out of balance due to the dorsal hump present. You will need to go undergo a full rhinoplasty, which can be accomplished with a closed approach with all incisions placed on the inside of the nose. No painful packing is required either. Choose your surgeon wisely based on extensive experience producing natural results
