Does Finasteride (taken at 1.25mg/day) induce seperate cycles of hair shedding that are distant in time?

I'm a 25 y.o caucasian male with MPB Norwood II. I've been losing hair for 2years now. Eight months ago i started taking Finasteride (1.25mg/day). I experienced major shedding during the first 2-3 months- which according to what i've read is normal. After that, my hair started to improve and has gotten thicker than ever. Currently, im at my 8th month and shedding is recurring aggresively. Is this normal for someone taking finasteride or does it mean that I am not responsive to the treatment?

Finasterid is normally suggested  1 mg but sometimes they produce 5 mg. You can use 1 mg or you can take quarter of 5mg a day. It is better if you use it with different time cycles in a yaer  But it is better if you talk with a doctor.

No, probably neither. The most likely reason is that something else is going on (such as a second diagnosis) or the finasteride you are using is different. The second situation of course is unlikely for most but needs to be considered. I'd need go know your whole story and to see your scalp up close to determine the exact reason but the first two reasons you have given are not likely for someone who sheds 8 months post finasteride. Please see your prescriber for careful recview of your situation.
