Had a BBL Nov 28 and massage therapist massaged my butt and made me lay on my butt to massage my stomach. What can I do?

Dear ji9,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MD

Laying on your butt for 30 min during your post op massage is not a big deal. I do not let my patients get massage on the areas of fat transfer just the areas of liposuction. 

unfortunately misunderstandings of the importance or need for a massage after liposuction and fat transfer procedures as much too common. In my opinion final results are not affected by massage and massage serves no scientific proven benefit. There are plastic surgeons who incorporate massage packages in their financial formula so there may be a second  gain in recommending them. Areas treated with fat transfer such as the BBL should never be massaged but rather the opposite should be immobilized and pressure avoided this is especially true during the first 2 to 3 weeks.  It is very difficult to know if a single massage was the reason for your volume loss or if this is what your results would've been regardless.  In the end you will have to except the results you get or consider some type of revision.  Many patients lose substantial amounts of volume after fat transfer procedures. There are numerous variables that determine fat loss.  What happened to you it is unfortunate but it's probably not going to cause loss of most of your grafted fat. After three weeks they grafted fat is generally stable and the fat that it's alive at that point can tolerate pressure. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
