Is tretinoin safe for a 75 year old woman to use?

I am 75yrs old with good not very sensitive skin and wrinkles around my mouth. Is tretinoin safe for me to use?

Tretinoin is safe for use by adults of any age.  There are different strengths and formulations so you should discuss these with your prescribing physician.  It is also possible that there may be other treatments that would be more beneficial to you.

Tretinoin would be very safe for you. Work up slowly to let your skin get used to the tretinoin - maybe start every third night and then move up to every other night then night if your skin can tolerate it without peeling and redness. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. The perioral skin is typically more sensitive than other facial area. if you are having trouble using tretinoin and cannot use it without a lot of peeling, then I would recommend a retinol cream. I think consistent use of a retinol can be more tolerable and more helpful than just periodic, occasional use of tretinoin.

Yes, Tretinoin is one of my favorite products!  It is safe to use as long as you do not have any allergies to the product's ingredients.  Many patients of all ages use Tretinoin to treat acne, wrinkles, and pigmentation.  Rapid cell turnover and collagen stimulation caused by Tretinoin improves tone and texture.  Apply a pea size amount at night to the entire face, be careful to not apply on lips and and stay along the orbital bone.  It is recommended in one month to work yourself up to nightly treatment or at least five nights a week for your Tretinoin to be most effective.
