Hello. I had a huge pimple on my nose a few months ago and I popped it and it left this atrophic scar above my right nostril. Are there any solutions to make it less visible?
Answer: Recommend laser treatments to help reduce appearance of the scar. Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Scars require a combination approach using our HI DEF protocol which uses a combination of lasers, topical scar modulation, and RF treatments to pixelate scars, improve contour, reduce hyperpigmentation, and improve the visibility of the scars so that they are no longer visible in ambient light. Everyone has a unique pattern of scarring and we employ our HIDEF technique to improve texture, color, contour, and topography. We often use a combination of treatments that begin with a careful examination to examine the micro texturing of the acne scars. Atrophic scars and indented scars can benefit from injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane with or without subcision to remove tethered scars and atrophic depression. Hyper-redness in scars can be improved with V beam laser, Excel V, BBL, IPL, and Venus RF to improve the redness and reduce the visibility of deep scars. Fractional Thulium laser and clear & brilliant can also reduce the inflammation and redness of the scar when combined with topical therapy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Above all, our combination approach with our clinical nurses and board-certified plastic surgeons can improve the quality of your skin by using at home Melarase creams combined with PRP treatments in our office to improve your skin quality and tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced team of experts in order to reduce your scarring. Finally, hyperpigmentation of scars can be improved with at-home Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads to help reduce active PIH and melanin deposition. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Subcision Works Well For Elevating & Smoothing Indented Scars I'm really sorry that this has happened to you. I would suggest that you consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist scar treatment specialist to discuss subcision, a technique that I have been using with gratifying results for elevating and smoothing all kinds of Indented scars from all causes for thirty years. Although subcision is often accompanied by the use of a filler, such as an HA filler, in order to enhance new collagen and new elastic fiber synthesis, I would be reluctant to use it in this case, since the indentation is located to the side of the the nasal tip, (rather than on the midline), where the potential risk for vascular occlusion with a filler would be increased. Traditional subcision on the other hand (I.e. without the addition of a filler) does not pose this risk. Be wary when offered expensive light and energy-based treatments, as the hard science to support the use of these expensive gizmo treatments lags well behind the social media and marketing hype. So, buyer beware. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Answer: Effective Strategies for Managing Atrophic Nose Scars Atrophic scars, such as the one you described on your nose, can often be improved with various treatments. Here are some options to consider: Topical Treatments: Silicone Gel or Sheets: These can help flatten and soften scars over time. Retinoids: Prescription-strength retinoids can promote skin cell turnover and improve the appearance of scars. Professional Treatments: Laser Therapy: Fractional laser treatments can stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. Microneedling: This procedure creates tiny punctures in the skin to promote healing and collagen production, which can help reduce the appearance of atrophic scars. Chemical Peels: These can remove the top layer of skin, promoting regeneration and improving the texture of the scarred area. Fillers: Dermal fillers can be injected to raise the depressed area of an atrophic scar, making it less noticeable. Considerations: Consultation: It's important to consult with a dermatologist or a specialist in cosmetic procedures to evaluate your scar and discuss the best treatment options for your skin type and specific needs. Realistic Expectations: While treatments can significantly improve the appearance of scars, they may not completely eliminate them. Discussing your concerns with a professional will help you choose the most effective treatment plan tailored to your skin and aesthetic goals.
