Last year I had a septoplasty to improve my breathing and help with snoring, my nose wasn’t that crooked before but it did lean to one side, after my surgery I did notice that it was still leaning over to one side and the doctor had claimed I had a perforation in my septum now as well, I waited a full year to see if it would straighten out and it never did my breathing only slightly improved but I still can only mainly breathe through my left nostril
Answer: Second septoplasty timing A standard septoplasty on its own wouldn't be expected to make your external nose straighter, so if that's a concern you'd likely need a rhinoplasty. Without examining your nose it's hard for me to say what would need to be done to improve your congestion symptoms. A large perforation can contribute to feeling congestion, but there may be other issues going on that would better address your symptoms. You've waited long enough at this point that I wouldn't expect further waiting to change your crookedness or nasal obstruction.

Answer: Second rhinoplasty in one year Generally speaking, you can have another surgery after the healing & swelling from the first surgery has has run its course. It's unfortunate that you did not have a correction of the septal deviation and, in addition, now have a septal perforation. Depending on the size of the perforation, you may or may not be able to correct both the deviation and perforation during the next surgery. My advice would be to consult with surgeons who specialize in revision rhinoplasty. Remember that each subsequent surgery, if not done well, will further compromise things and make it harder for the next surgeon to correct.

Answer: Revision surgery Dear Intuitiveone, one year after surgery, your nose should be fully healed so a revision surgery should be safe. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Is it harmful to get a second septoplasty one year later A thorough in-person examinations going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed. To straighten the crooked nose requires a cosmetic rhinoplasty. Both procedures can be performed together under one anesthesia with one recovery period.
