Does melasma and sun spots get worse for a few days after Picosure Focus? (Photo)

I had Picosure focus done 2 days ago. My skin was red at first, but now just a bit blotchy and the melasma and sin damage look darker. Is this normal? And when does it start to fade?

This is normal occurrence. After Picosure treatment many patients experience pigmented spots getting darker and then it goes away within one to two weeks. Good luck!

this is very normal and means the treatment will be effective. you can use 4% hydroquinone to help minimize this effect but don't worry, it will soon get lighter. you should wait at least 6 weeks between treatments. The picosure laser is a wonderful laser for getting your complexion even in color with improvement in fine lines too.david berman md

Yes, often sunspots darken, and melasma may worsen after Picosure Focus. The use of HQ creams is a must with Pico, or rebound pigmentation will occur. Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
